Milos

In 1820 a local farmer was digging in the dirt when he came across one of the world’s greatest treasures. He had found a marble statue of Aphrodite dating back to¬†Between 130 and 100 BC originally carved by¬†Alexandros of Antioch. The ‘Venus de Milo’ was dug up, crated and shipped to the Louvre in Paris and Milos went back to being an island known for its huge volcanic rocky shores and 70 or so beaches.
